| As you may have heard by now, I had a website that was deleted. This is what I found out about their clicks and deletions:
1. Your site may not show the same hits on their counting mechanism as YOUR counter does. If it is deleted, there is absolutely no recourse to getting your site back, it is gone forever. FOREVER. Even if you have proof. Solid proof. All you will get is, I'm sorry, you can make another one. (read below what that may involve!) 2. If you decide to make another site under the same name, it is NOT safe. Mine was deleted (in October) for September. They say I can make one now in November. However, since they deleted after October 1, my site was considered as active then and must have the 30 hits for October as well as the 30 hits for the rest of November. So, if for some reason, like in September, if they determine that my site (which is non-existent right now and during part of October) did not have 30 hits, they can again delete it even if I make it now and get the required hits for November. It is a lose-lose situation. I cannot go back into stats because it was deleted: I have no site, so I do not know how many hits they claim I got. But if I make a new one now and get the required hits for November, I can still lose it because of October's hits, or lack of hits. Confusing? You betcha! 3. I was told that I could get a new membername and start all over again and it would be safe from the October requirements. I like cars4sale. It said it all. Why should I have to change it just because THEY counted my site wrong? |

It had enough hits. Put it back! NOW. http://pages.ivillage.com/cars4sale/ We appreciate you writing in with your concerns. Our member websites require that you receive a certain amount of hits to keep your siteactive. September 2004 cars4sale - 24 Only those sites that receive 30 page views or more per month are supported. Sites found to have less than 30 page views per month areconsidered abandoned. If the content in your Member Website is no longer available you did not meet the 30 page view requirement. Please note that iVillage has not deleted the account your member website was created under. This means that although the content of your Website site has been deleted and isirretrievable you still have access to your membership. Sincerely, Customer Support iVillage.com,The Internet for Women http://www.ivillage.com sorry, that count is not correct. I know for a fact that a friend of mine clicks on her sites and all of mine every day. There are 30 days in September and I know she hit all 30 days (or her sites would have been removed too) plus we were selling a truck so there were hits from that and I also hit over 10 times to make sure everything still looked fine. Your counters are off. I called this to the attention of a few of the boards earlier that there is no way that we will ever be able to prove just how many hits we get. Even Bravenet shows more hits that iV does. How, in the future, can we ever prove our hits? The counts we get are from the vendor that provides us with the sitebuilder software and they keep the counts on the sites. They also perform the deletes. None of this is done through iVillage as this is part of our contract with them. Counts are tabulated automatically from the statistics counter built in to the tools they provide us. Deletes are permanent and backups are not made. I am sorry I could not be of more help. Sincerely, Customer Support In other words, members are S.O.L. when it comes to proving they have/had the correct hits. When is it going into effect that we can no longer make websites? If I make another one today, will it be removed later because they decided it no longer falls under the cloak of old sites? It took them over a month to delete my other website and all my changing it around and getting clicks meant nothing during the month of October. Will all of my work in the next few days mean nothing when they put the new rules into effect about no new sites? When is the start date for making no new sites? All members need to know this before we make more sites to replace those wrongfully deleted and wasting our time. Hello Charlotte, I do not have a date on when the no new sites will come in to effect, however, sites already created will be kept and not deleted. It won't be backdated and as of today, that has not gone in to effect.if you rebuild your site right now, the next delete will be for October and probably wont' happen for another week or two ( I never know ahead of time) so the count taken would be for October, if you are sure you had enough hits in October then you will probably be safe. Please also note you are part way through November, so you would needto ensure you get 30 hits in November as well. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Customer Support lol, that is a hoot, it is ALREADY GONE! Unless you mean they will try to say I didn't have any hits in October (because I made it in November) and they will delete it again. Hello Charlotte, My apologies, it is hard to explain. The counter they use tabulates hits every month automatically, so a count for October would have been made October 1, your site was still live through some of October so it would get counted again. The best suggestion I could give would be to register a new member name and rebuild the site under a new name, that way to can see exactly what hits it is getting from the day you open it. Sincerely, Customer Support OK, so am I getting this straight? If I make a new website under cars4sale, they will take into account October even though it will not be made until November. So, I am making a new website only to maybe have it deleted because of possibly not enough hits for October, even though it was not made until November? And since I cannot go to stats right now to see if there were enough hits in October because it was deleted, I will never know if there were enough hits. Never mind the fact that I DID have enough hits in September but they deleted me anyway. So in order to make a completely new 'safe' site, I have to change my name. That SUX. cars4sale said it all....that is why I chose that name. Hello Charlotte, Yes you have that correct. And it doesn't happen often that people lose sites a second time because most site that are deleted are dormant and not being used anymore so they don't try to make a site again. The name change was only a suggestion to ensure you did not lose your site again. I am going to check with Trellix to see if I can find out other solutions, I will get back to you. Sincerely, Customer Support SIDE NOTE: No one ever got back to me. No great surprise. Charlotte Sue |
